Santa Claus Net 2012 Re-Cap

Another Santa Claus Net is in the log.

This year was very successful with over 200 contacts with children of all ages worldwide. The 20m band as was expected this time of year, was a wee bit tricky. The band was an on-going roller coaster ride. Santa and Santa Net NCS operators would like to thank all participants for their patients and perseverance with the ever changing band conditions.

Murphy's Law and the Santa Claus Net.

Murphy checked into the net early and often this year. Net control stations had  computer crashes and power outages. Santa's sleigh had antenna issues and one Brazilian PU2 station  had complete station shut down while trying to check into the net.

Santa via NCS WX4PBC completed the contact via e-mail. Net Control Stations were ready for Murphy as they used the PBC Skywarn "SkyChat"  which allowed them to communicate in real time with each other and relay information via SkyChat for the duty NCS to make or complete the contact during the varying band  conditions.

But even through Murphy's Law can enter and dampen equipment, Murphy could not dampen the Sprit of Christmas or the Santa Claus Net. So...the net was a success
and fun was had by all.

Santa Claus Net goes High Tec

NCS operators Joe W1WCN and Scott KK4ECR introduced LiveStream allowing visitors to watch the Santa Work Shop Operations room in action to include last minute up-dates on Santa in pre-flight and the actual flight.

KC9SGV notified Santa  he had opened an on-line streaming audio site and had a large number of Santa Net listeners worldwide.

NCS operator Shawn KI4HRY pulled double duty. Santa made a "Pit Stop" for Shawn's High Tec Santa Grade hay for Rudolf and crew and Shawn also opened his shack for Santa to continue the net

A note form Santa and the Net Control Stations

Santa and all the Santa Net Control Stations,  would like to thank the 14300.net for sponsoring the Santa Claus Net and especially Santa Net  Manager Bernard (Bob) Sternberg , AA4EE for coordinating the net and allowing us to participat again this year.

A special thanks goes to Pat  KJ4AVE who was able to get Mrs. Claus on the air this
year and PBC Skywarn Coordinator Maurice Dake
K9EE for the use of  SkyChat  and SkyChat NCS Doc AC8AL who was tasked with watching the SkyChat Cluster and monitoring band conditions for Santa.

Want to be apart of the Santa Claus Net?

Check back here or the 14300.net page around Thanksgiving 2013  for the announce-
ment or contact Bob
AA4EE around that time.
